Pick the Right Skirt for Your Body

Skirts are feminine, classy and very flattering when you pick the right one. They can make you feel playful, girly, stylish and elegant as well as sexy, depending on what cut, colour and length you choose. Every woman needs at least a couple of skirts in their wardrobe but very few really understand what would fit them just right and which skirt would just highlight their flaws.

Skirts come in various shapes and sizes, designed for different settings; be it formal, casual or romantic. You have mini-skirts on one side and maxi-skirts on the other. But which one is the right pick for you.

Mini/Short Skirts

If you have long, lean legs and a trim, flat waist, congratulations, you can pull of the mini-skirt. Mini-skirts have always enjoyed a long-standing appeal; they show your fabulous legs and can be sexy or playful. If a mini-skirt clings to your body and curves around your hips, you want to feel hot and the goal is accomplished. If you’re in playful or flirtatious mood, grab a mini-skirt that has flare and movement to it. It will still show off your legs, but mute the sexiness a little.

Not everyone is comfortable with mini-skirts, though and it’s certain not going to help you pull off a sophisticated and urbane look.

Knee-Length Skirts

Knee-length skirts a great when you want to pull off a sophisticated and professional look. It’s the go-to skirt for most women for work and other formal occasions. Generally, a knee-length skirt can accommodate any body-shape and you just need to be a little pick when it comes to the fit and style. Dark colours like blue, black, grey can have a slimming effect.

This skirt can’t live without a pair of heels, even if you pick sensible heels. Flats will make you look square and short so pick a nice pair of strappy or empowering heels and this skirt will just make your day.

Midi Skirts

These are becoming a rare sight today and for good reason. Midi skirts cut off the leg mid-calf, generally at the widest part of the calf. Now if you have lean calves and long legs on a tall body, this skirt will work wonders on it. Short, petite ladies look short and short, curvy ladies will find midi skirts most unflattering.

Still, if you pair them with heels and lengthen your leg, this skirt is great too, modest without being granny-like, if you pick right and accessorize properly.

Long Skirts

Well, long skirts can be great but they can be bad too. Generally, short, petite women should stay clear of them; unless the skirts fit snugly to the hips and thighs and have a sexy slit somewhere. Long or maxi skirts are better suited for tall creatures and those of us who have fuller figures will find long skirts flattering too.

A gypsy skirt is in vogue these days, paired with a tank-top and some artsy bangles; it’s a great look to indulge in.

There’s no reason to fear skirts, really. Just pick the right one and they won’t disappoint you.

Pair the dress with strappy heels, dangling earrings and tasteful make-up, and you are ready to party.

Pair them with equally comfortable leggings or just go without, you’ll be cool and at ease all the time. You aren’t compromising even an inch on style, so go bohemian chic with a grand, floppy hat, bracelets and flip-flops.
